Senior year is a year filled with not only fond memories but also hard work and accomplishments. There are some special awards given to those seniors chosen by teachers, coaches or other students worthy of that honor.
One well known and honorable award is the Dave Dehne, otherwise known as the "Spirit" award. This honor is given in memory of a Century High School student who died in 1976 while still in high school. He had been actively involved in football, drama and choir. Every year each of these activities award a senior who shows leadership, spirit and other outstanding qualities. This year the Dave Dehne award was given to Dawn Nelson and Beth Cash for drama, Stacey Smith for choir and Bruce Raaum for football.
The John Phillips Sousa award was given to Tim Stark who was voted by the band members as the senior with the most dedication to the band, someone who encouraged others to do their best and showed the most spirit.
